Jaleen Tyrese Mathis, Suspect in Pilot Travel Center Murder, Arrested

Jaleen Tyrese Mathis, was the fifth suspect arrested during the investigation into the murder of Patrick Witter Ballew. 

Mathis was arrested on Thursday, January 20th, by the Russell County Alabama Sheriff’s Office with help from investigators from the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office and the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office as well as members of the United States Marshal’s Task Force.

Jaleen Mathis was arrested Thursday, January 20th, at a residence in Russell County, Alabama. The arrest was a result of a drug raid executed primarily by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office,  with help from Investigators from the Muscogee County ( GA ) Sheriff’s Office and the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Member of the Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force also assisted in the arrest.

The raid lead to the seizure of 12.2 pounds of marijuana, 906 tablets of MDMA, 512 THC vape cartridges, $23,864.00, and several firearms, two of which were stolen.

The raid lead to the arrest of both Jaleen Mathis and Jaheim Mathis, both of Russell County, AL. 

Jaleen Mathis was charged with the following:

  • Trafficking in marijuana
  • Trafficking in MDMA
  • Possession of a controlled substance (THC)
  • Receiving stolen property 2nd degree

Jaheim Mathis was charged with the following:

  • Trafficking in marijuna
  • Trafficking in MDMA
  • Possession of a controlled substance (THC)
  • Possession of a short-barreled shotgun
  • Receiving stolen property 2nd degree
