Around 10:45 PM, November 12th, 2021, Coweta County 911 received multiple calls from witnesses stating that a male had been shot multiple times and was laying on the floor of the Pilot Travel Center, located at 1645 S. Highway 29 near I-85 Exit 41.
Responding Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Deputies found a white male on the ground inside the store, with several gunshots to the torso. Emergency crews attempted to stabilize the victim, calling for Air Life to respond. Air Life responded to the Newnan Coweta Airport, across from the Pilot, however, the ambulance crew was unable to stabilize the victim for the flight due to the severity of his injuries. Eventually, the victim was instead transported by ground ambulance, with the Air Life crew onboard to help, to Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Unfortunately, the victim passed from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Officers quickly received information from witnesses that the victim had a verbal argument in the parking lot, near his van, that resulted in being shot. The victim then stumbled from his van, which was parked to the left of the door, into the building and collapsed. The shooter then left the scene in the victim’s van.
After noticing a logo on the clothing of the victim, and it being confirmed by witnesses and video, the CCSO put out a BOLO for a white sprinter van with the name “Assured Conveyance” on the side.
The van was located the next day when a resident off Yager Rd, called to report a suspicious vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac in front of their house. Responding Investigators discovered the victim’s van, abandoned. Inside the vehicle were approximately 300lbs of marijuana and over 20,000 THC cartridges.
