Family Confirms Identity of Victim
On Nov 14th 2021, Morgan Goodman posted on Facebook confirmed that her cousin, Patrick Witter Ballew was the victim that had passed after being shot at the Pilot Travel Center in Newnan.
Mrs, Goodman wrote on Facebook, “On Friday, November 12, 2021, my cousin Patrick Ballew was killed in Georgia while there for work. The suspect has not been located. I am asking for my friends to please share this, so we can find the man who did this. The suspect in question is to be believed from Michigan. Please support my family in our search during this difficult time.”
The following was the publically published obit for Mr. Ballew:
Ballew, Patrick Witter – Patrick died on Friday, November 13, 2021, at the age of 38. Patrick was born on March 23, 1983 in Grosse Pointe MI. He was a graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School and attended Wayne State University. Patrick was very outgoing, loved new adventures and had a great sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, especially boating and snowmobiling. Patrick was recently engaged to his beloved Nichole; a Charlevoix area wedding was planned as the couple enjoyed visiting northern Michigan. He is survived by his devoted mother Yvonne and father Patrick Sr. (Marge), his Uncle Rudy (Carol) DeMercurio, Uncle Mike Ballew (Barb), Aunt Kelly Ballew, and many cousins, dear friends and business associates. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life event will be scheduled at a later date.
Victim was the Sole Proprietor of Assured Conveyance, LLC
We first learned of Assured Conveyance, LLC in the moments directly after the shooting, when the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office broadcast a “Be on the look out” for the victim’s van, stating the name of the company was displayed on the side of the van.
We would find out shortly thereafter that the name was also on the uniform the victim was wearing.
We now know, through public records with the Michigan Secretary of State, that the company was in fact owned and operated by Mr. Ballew. We can see also in his company profile that he was the only driver and that his van was the only registered vehicle.
DOT records show that the company had been in continual operation since February 2019.
