Armed Robbery Turned Car Jacking at La Hacienda Turns Into Vehicle Pursuit, Crash as Suspect is Arrested

Started in the La Hacienda Parking Lot

Just before 1:50 AM on October 15th, 2022 an NPD officer working off-duty security at La Hacienda Mexican Bar and Grill off Bullsboro drive notified dispatch of a possible robbery in progress. Over the next few moments, he was able to gather information from the victim and relay that information to dispatch.

Included in those updates was the type of car, a 2012 Chevy Camaro Convertable that was blue in color and had left the rear of the restaurant heading south on Diplomat Parkway. Units in the area quickly started searching for the vehicle as officers on the scene continued to collect information from the victim.

We can’t expand on the relationship between the suspect and victim past that they’d been seen together inside the establishment prior to the incident. The incident ended up starting in the parking lot as an armed robbery. The suspect, using a Glock 9mm, that was later recovered, robbed the victim of his phone, keys, jewelry, and other belongings before entering his vehicle and leaving the scene.

Coweta County Sherrif's Deputy Spots the Vehicle, Suspect Flees

At 2:08 AM a Deputy with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office spots the stolen vehicle near Newnan Crossing Blvd East and Stonebridge Crossing, he attempts to stop the vehicle and it flees at a high rate of speed south into the Stonebridge Neighborhood.

Less than 2 minutes and 1/2 a mile later, the pursuit ends when the suspect crashes the stolen vehicle at the roundabout at Stonebridge Crossing and Stonebridge Blvd.

The pursuing Deputy, knowing the suspect was armed, held him at gunpoint as other units arrived. They deployed a protective shield before approaching the suspect and securing him and his weapon, a Glock 43 9mm. EMS was called for the suspect and he was transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital before being transported to Grady Memorial in Atlanta. We believe that he sustained some possible broken bones in the incident. His current condition is unknown.

Suspect, Eron Buggs, is no Stranger to Guns and Parking Lots

While the suspect has not been booked yet due to his need for medical treatment, we were able to gain his identity.

Eron Naseem Buggs, 23, of McDonough doesn’t show any local criminal history. That would make sense as it doesn’t seem he’s been in Georgia for long.

According to news reports, on October 17th, 2021, Buggs was involved in a fight in the parking lot of a Wawa gas station in Mechanicsville, Maryland. During that incident, Buggs was fighting a male, when another male pulled a gun on Buggs in defense of the man he was fighting. In response, Buggs retreated to his vehicle, producing a “long gun” and pointing it at various people in the parking lot before fleeing the scene.

He was arrested on March 11th of this year and on July 1st he entered a plea deal that saw him plead guilty to lesser charges. He was sentenced to 2 years, with 530 days suspended. With credit for time served since his arrest, he was soon released and subject to 18 months of supervised probation. Given it’s been less than 3 months since he was released, he would certainly still be subject to those probation requirments.

It’s unknown at this time what his charges will be in Coweta County. We will update with that information as soon as it’s available.
