Suspect with Multiple Warrants Arrested After Short Pursuit on Dirt Bike

44-Year-Old Suspect Flee's Traffic Stop on Dirt Bike

Shortly before 7:30 PM on October 19th, a Deputy with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop 2 dirt bikes that were driving in the roadway on Wallace Gray Road.

Shortly after he turned on his lights and sirens, the dirt bikes took a left onto Belk road and took off at a high rate of speed where they were quickly contacted by another unit. After coming into contact with this unit, they reversed course and took off going down Belt Rd towards Smokey Road.

After a short pursuit, the suspects were able to evade the officers in their cars around the CBS gas station on Smokey Road. After some searching and with the help of witnesses, one of the bikes was located at a location on Meadow Sweet Lane. That dirt bike was impounded.

People driving dirt bikes on the streets in that area has become commonplace and is a huge safety risk. The bikes that they are riding are not street legal and not tagged, with no lights. Local residents complain about unsafe road traffic and the incessant noise in the area.

While the suspects were able to get a decent lead on the Deputies, they were identified quickly. The rider that had ditched his bike, the suspect that was arrested, was found about 35 minutes after the initiation of the pursuit.
