\\ Suspect Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

Just before 5:45 PM on Saturday, October 24th, a female walked into the Newnan Police Department's lobby at 1 Joseph Hannah Blvd and reported that she'd been sexually assaulted. Officers immediately began working to get the victim seen by EMS and transported for further treatment.

Investigation & Arrest

The victim was able to communicate enough detail regarding the incident for them to continue their investigation and within an hour of the initial report, records show that officers arrived at an apartment located at 18 Jefferson Parkway in Newnan.

According to booking data, Viktor Kozhenko, 51, was arrested at that location and booked on the following charges.

• False Imprisonment (F)
• Rape (F)
• Aggravated Sodomy (F)
• Aggravated Assault (F)
• Battery (M)

The location and circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this time and due to the nature of the offense, additional information is restricted from open records.

A search of local and state records doesn't show any criminal history for Kozhenko outside of a handful of traffic violations.

Booking documents list Kozhenko as an engineer and he lists several local companies on a public linkedin account.

Civil records show that Kozhenko's marriage was officially dissolved in January of this year after being estranged since early 2023. In the petition his ex-wife specifically cited alcohol addiction as one of the leading reasons for her filing.
