The suspect shot and killed by CCSO Deputies and an SPD Officer has been identified at 76 year old, Michael Perry Adams, of Senoia.

The officer involved shooting occurred after Coweta County E911 received a call from the suspects wife at 107 Tranquil Rd stating that he’d shot her.

E911 immediately dispatched Deputies with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office as well as medical units with the Coweta County Fire Department. The victim remained on the line with 911. She informed 911 that her husband was still in the house and armed, and at one point stated he’d shot her again.

Officers with the Senoia Police Department, hearing the CCSO traffic, and knowing the severity of the incident started to respond at the request of CCSO deputies.

Given the size of the county, as well as the numbers of Deputies working at any one time, it’s common practice to ask for response assistance by city units if the call is near their jurisdiction, the goal being both a fast response as well as more officers in certain situations.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers were presented with a gate across the driveway. With information that the suspect was still armed – and shooting – they jumped the gate and approached the house using a ballistic shield.

According to a press release by the GBI, officers engaged Adams giving him commands to drop his gun. He did not and apparently pointed the gun at officers, which resulted in officers firing on Adams.

CCFD Units that had been staging down the road from the scene responded quickly but were unable to resuscitate Adams who died from his wounds. His wife was taken to a local hospital for treatment of the gunshot wounds that she received in the incident.

The GBI was immediately called in to investigate. According to their press release 2 CCSO Deputies and 1 SPD Officer were involved in the shooting.

CCSO Responded to address days before

According to public records, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office had visited the address just days prior on May 8th, 2023.

That visit was the result of a request for a welfare check by an unknown individual on an elderly female that lived at the house.

Radio traffic shows that Deputies responded to the house and after making contact with the elderly female, contacted a family member who removed her from the location.

The report stemming from that incident shows that a case, still active, was initiated by the CCSO regarding elder abuse involving a 95 year old female.
