Car fire at WoodSprings Suites being investigated as possible arson
The late afternoon fire was quickly put out
Just before 4 PM this afternoon, July 18th, E911 received a call stating there was a vehicle on fire in the back of the WoodSprings Suites parking lot located at 69 Diplomat Parkway.
Units with the Newnan Fire Department and the Newnan Police Department both responded to the scene. According to dispatch bystanders were able to fight back the fire using
Shortly after arriving and after speaking with the owner of the vehicle, NPD patrol units called for an investigator and crime scene units to respond to the scene. The owner apparently stated that he had an ongoing issue with an individual and didn’t believe the fire to have started on its own.
Investigators apparently agreed as over the next few hours they continued their investigation and towed the burned vehicle to the Newnan Police Department.
As of right now this is an ongoing investigation, anyone with any information is asked to contact the Newnan Police Department.
